Who you are dealing with

This site is operated by Excove Builders, a California licensed general building contractor, CSLB #1123274, B — General Building Contractor, based in Rodeo, CA. You can verify that licence yourself on the California Contractors State License Board website, and we would rather you did — for us and for anyone else you are considering.

Nothing here is a quote

Any price, range, or timeline mentioned on this site is general information. It is not an offer, a bid, or a binding quote. We give a real number only after walking the space in person and putting it in writing with line items you can read.

Submitting the estimate form does not create a contract, reserve a place in our schedule, or oblige either of us to anything. It starts a conversation.

The actual work is governed by a signed contract

California law requires home improvement work to be done under a written contract with specific protections for you — the payment schedule, your right to cancel, and required notices about the licence board and mechanics liens. Those come in the contract itself. If anything on this website ever appears to conflict with your signed contract, the contract controls.

Accuracy

We try to keep this site correct, and we name sources with dates where we cite a city's permit rules. Building codes and local requirements change. Treat what you read here as a starting point and confirm current requirements with the relevant building department before relying on it for a decision.

Where we link to another organisation — a city, the licence board, a review site — we do not control that page and are not responsible for what it says.

Using the site

Read it, print it, send a page to your spouse or your architect — all fine. What is not fine is scraping it wholesale, republishing the writing or photographs as your own, or submitting the form with somebody else's details.

The text, photographs and design on this site are ours. Our name and logo are ours.
